We believe everyone can find their place at Sunset Beach Community Church. We understand that exploring Jesus or visiting a new church for the first time can be intimidating and uncomfortable experience.
In the summer of 2000 a vision for a PCA church in NC coast was begun, starting as a Home Bible Study Group. In 2002 the group moved into the Sea Trails POA Building and named the church South Brunswick Community Presbyterian Church. A Pastor was hired and here for one year. During this time the church saw some growth.
After preaching earlier in the year, Richard Farrand was called in the fall of 2003 to become Pastor of the church. Richard and his wife Karen came in December of 2003. At that time the church decided to become “independent”.
In March of 2004 the church moved to Sunset Beach and set in our first Elders and Deacons. In the fall of the same year the name of the church was changed to Sunset Beach Community Church and moved into its first building in Pelican Square. By January 2005 it had expanded into a second portion of Pelican Square and we dedicated the Building to the Lord. In the same year we had our first membership and our first missions. In the fall of 2006, we expanded into a third portion of Pelican Square. By August 2008 we were over 100 in attendance and supporting 6 missionaries.
As we continue to see the Goodness of God we press toward the mark of advancing the Kingdom of God. We're a dynamic, family church for everyone with people of all ages and from all walks of life who make up the community of Sunset Beach Community Church.
